Orthotics

What are Orthotics?

Casting 3 - Orthotics

An orthotic is a custom made, removable device that is placed within the shoe to control excessive foot motion, improve foot function, and reduce stress on muscles and tendons. The human foot has 26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments. These all have to work together in perfect harmony to have healthy, pain free feet. It is easy to see why things can go wrong.

Chiropodists will assess your feet and gait and prescribe the proper orthotics if needed. Our orthotics are made by taking plaster casts of your feet in a non-weight bearing position to capture the true alignment of the foot. We then assign the proper prescription adjustments so you have a completely custom orthotic for your foot. Many insurance companies will provide coverage, if prescribed by a Chriopodist or Podiatrist.
